The public is invited to give the 2014 Pam Pack football team a farewell to remember this morning, as the team heads to Winston-Salem for the state championship game.

Starting with a big sendoff in the bus parking lot at Washington High School at 9 a.m., the buses will follow an elongated route out of town to give supporters the opportunity to wish them well.

The team’s route will be as follows: from Slatestone Road, right on Highland Drive; right onto 15th Street; left onto Brown Street; right onto Fifth Street/John Small Avenue; left onto Bridge Street; left onto West Main Street; left onto North Market Street; left onto West 15th Street; right onto U.S. Highway 264.

According to Sarah Hodges, public information officer for Beaufort County Schools, everyone is encouraged to show their support with signs, banners and cheering along the team’s exit route.

“Win or lose, they’re champions in our book,” Hodges said. “This has been a historic season and we want to make sure they leave here already feeling like champions.”
