Man arrested for shooting

On Dec. 18, 2014, at approximately 12:07 a.m., the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on Slatestone Road in Washington. The victim reported he sustained injuries to his right forearm when his vehicle was struck by a bullet. The victim was able to flee the scene to a nearby relative’s residence and call 911. Deputies responded to the victim’s location and requested EMS. The victim was later treated and released by EMS for his injuries.

The sheriff’s office began an investigation, collected evidence and conducted interviews. As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, Investigator Jonathan Fowler applied for and obtained warrants charging Sherman Ray Linton Jr., 26, of 1995 Slatestone Road, Washington, with one count of felony discharging a barreled weapon into an occupied vehicle inflicting serious Injury.

On Dec. 18, 2014, investigators arrested Linton and presented him before Magistrate E. Holmes. Linton was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on an $80,000 secured bond.
