Mr. Al Edwards, age 60, a resident of Washington, N.C. died Monday,  December 29, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Larry Eugene Jackson 57, of 4876 Leggett Mill Rd., died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Hoell Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night, Jan. 1, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home. Walker Funeral Home of Williamston is serving the Jackson family.

 

FLORENCE DANIELS LASSITER

Florence Daniels Lassiter 75, of 112 Thomas Lane, died Tuesday December 30, 2014 at her home. Memorial services will be held Saturday January 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Cashie Baptist Church. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor is serving the Lassiter family.

Calvin Rayfield Liverman, of 1106 Thompson Lane, Washington, died Dec. 28, 2014, at Willow Manor, Chocowinity. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, from 4 p.m to 5 p.m. at the chapel of LR Randolph Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Leon Randolph Funeral Home, 208 W. VIDA B. LOWE

Sept. 10, 1931 – Dec. 30, 2014

 

Mrs. Vida Brock Sparrow Lowe, age 83, a former resident of Belhaven, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, January 2, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Belhaven and will be conducted by Rev. Cris Noble. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Mark Griffin, Melvin Grant, Herman Lagcher, Ray Lewis, Tim Tetterton and Bishop Williams will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Lowe was born on September 10, 1931 to the late Robert Tripp Sparrow and Vida Mae Brock Sparrow. She married Robert Randolph Lowe, Sr. who preceded her in death. She worked in bank collections for 15 years in Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Lowe was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Belhaven.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Edward Lowe and wife Beth of Pinetown, Robert Randolph Lowe, Jr. and wife Bertsie of Pasadena, Maryland, one daughter, Sharon Michalec and husband Stephen of Marietta, Georgia, one sister, Lucy Miller of Florida, six grandchildren, Sarah Halsey, Stephanie Griffin and husband Mark, Robert R. Lowe III and wife Emily, Jennifer Michalec, Nicole Michalec, Melissa Turk, one great granddaughter, Finley Rae Griffin and one great grandson, Jackson Turk. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Sparrow, Robert Sparrow and one sister, Betty Sparrow.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Betty Rothenberger Paul

April 26, 1939 – Dec. 30, 2014

 

Betty Rothenberger Paul, of Washington, died peacefully on Dec. 30, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. She was born on April 26, 1939, to the late Elmer R. and Ethel F. Rothenberger in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Betty was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served as a flight attendant for US troops, as well as government and military leaders.

Surviving are her three children, Dr. Edward Lee Paul, Jr. and wife Laura of Wrightsville Beach, Norman Neal Paul and wife Anne of Emerald Isle, Grant Matthew Paul of Emerald Isle, and six grandchildren, Lee, Hannah, Tanner, Drake, Hailey, and Ava.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 901 North Bonner Street in Washington, NC.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at the First Free Will Baptist Church.  There will be a private burial at Fairview Cemetery in Boyertown, Pennsylvania.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

 

 

 

 

LUCILLE BROWN WARREN

Dec. 20, 2014

 

Mrs. Lucille Brown Warren, daughter of the late Sally C. Brown and the late Pearlie H. Brown, went home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Palatka, Florida. She was 94 years old. She was born and raised in Washington, and later moved to Palatka, Florida.

Mrs. Warren was a graduate of the Mother of Mercy Catholic School In Washington. She was a member of Spring Garden Baptist Church where she worshipped regularly and sang in the senior choir. After moving to Palatka, Florida, she made Grace and Truth Deliverance Ministries her church home. While under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Cora Felix, she served faithfully on the Mother’s Board and the Women of Judah Ministry.  Mother Warren loved her church and each and every member was beautiful and lovely in her sight.  She would often tell each member that each one was her favorite. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Warren diligently served for many years in the hospitality Industry and in private residences.  She was a very hard worker and a loving, kind and caring person who never met a stranger. She believed in treating people right, enjoying life and trusting the Lord.   Mrs. Warren was known to say such things as “Stand second to none,”  “Don’t take no wooden nickels,” “Don’t talk too much,” and  “Don’t drive too fast.”

Mrs. Warren leaves to cherish her memory a kind and loving daughter, Marjorie Williams, whom she was very proud of and loved dearly. Also left to cherish her memory is her carina, devoted grandson, Holton Warren, who was like a son to her. They shared a loving and nurturing bond that she so dearly cherished. She also leaves a host of grandchildren,  great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents the lite Mr. and Mrs. Pearlie H. Brown, a son, Thomas Midgette, a brother, Pearlie H. Brown Jr., spouses Samuel S. Midgette and Ferdinand Warren.

A public viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the chapel of Leon Randolph Funeral Home, Washington.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Spring Garden Baptist Church in Washington where the Rev. R. McNair, host pastor, will officiate the service.  Apostle Dr. Cora B. Fells of Grace and Truth Deliverance Ministries, Palatka, Florida, will deliver the eulogy and the committal of the body.

Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Leon Randolph Funeral Home, Washington.
