From the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit

On Feb. 6, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Rodney Payton, 47 years of age, of 115 Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Markeem Clark, 26 years of age, of 1922 Bay City Road in Aurora.

Payton was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, maintaining a vehicle to keep and sale a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Payton was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.

Clark was charged with possession of heroin. Clark was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.

Their arrest stemmed from K-9 Elza alerting on a vehicle that Payton was operating during a traffic stop. Investigators conducted a search and found 20 bindles of heroin, digital scales and syringes.
