May 16, 1949 – Feb. 22, 2015

Mr. William S. Seymour, Jr., “Bill”, a resident of 161 Loop Road, Chocowinity, went to be with his Savior Sunday, February 22, 2015.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with Dr. Lance Perry conducting the service in conjunction with Rev. Billy Crabtree.

Bill was born on May 16, 1949 in Rocky Mount, N.C.   He was a graduate of Rocky Mount Sr. High School.  After attending Wilson Tech for a brief time, he entered the work force, being employed with Lowe’s, Proctor and Gamble, Industrial Sales and Dixie Bearings.

In 1968, Bill met “his best friend” and was married to Brenda in August of 1969.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years and his mother, Margaret B. Seymour Lawrence and several aunts and cousins.  Bill was preceded in death by his dad, William S. Seymour (Pappy).

Bill was raised as a member of Edgemont Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and in 1999 he joined First Christian Church in Washington as an active member until his health failed.  He loved his church and the people in it.   Bill felt very strong about not being defeated by his physical issues.

It was while on the Emmaus spiritual walk his heart transitioned to a heart for Christ. It was Libby Garris, Jonita Dixon and Sam Fulmer who truly showed their Christian love along with many others in the community.  Bill loved people and would give you the shirt off his back if it would help you.   He truly loved and cared for his fellow man.

His primary source of strength and peace came from God, family and friends.  Despite his health issues, he knew his life had been richly blessed by his Lord and Savior.  He’d often say “never under estimate God’s Power to repair and restore”.

Bill loved wildlife, nature, camping on the White Oak River and at Salter Path.  He also had a love for animals of which he called his 4 legged children upon adoption.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorials be made to First Christian Church, Attn: Bill Dunn Fund, 401 East Second Street, Washington, N.C. 27889; Eagle’s Wings, 932 W. 3rd Street, Washington, N.C. 27889, or J & J Homeless Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 1495, Washington, N.C. 27889.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Fontana, patient advocate Jo Ann Thompson and all the staff.
