Marijuana, cocaine seized in Belhaven bust

On Feb. 24, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Arnold Gerard Whitney, 29, and Anita Whitney Freeman, 60, of 594 Edward Street in Belhaven.

Arnold Whitney was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a child care center, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to store/keep a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Anita Freeman was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Their arrest stemmed from investigators executing a search warrant on their residence after receiving complaints and making purchases of controlled substances from Arnold Whitney. Investigators and K-9 Elza conducted a search of the residence and found marijuana packaged for resale, cocaine, drug packaging material and digital scales.

Arnold Whitney was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. Anita Freeman was released under a $1,500 unsecured bond.
