The Knights of Terra Ceia opened conference play this past Thursday hosting Northeast Academy.

Terra Ceia got on the board quickly in the first frame when Austin Roscoe singled, Austin Wynne sacrificed him over, and then hits by Kevin Sickert and Chase Furlough resulted in a 3-0 lead.

Tyler Hendrix took command on the mound and his defensive-minded teammates only committed two errors to shut out the Eagles 10-0. Hendrix struck out six, while adding a hit at the plate, along with Lelon Stotesberry and Roscoe who each added two hits.

The very next day Terra Ceia was on the diamond, this time taking on Gramercy School of Newport.

Chase Furlough earned his second win on the mound in the young season and the Knights’ bats came to life as they hit their way to an 11-1 win. Austin Roscoe led Terra Ceia at the plate with a 4-4 performance, while Austin Wynne, Lelon Stotesberry, Kendal Bowen and Quentin Van Essendelft provided multiple hits.  Wynne closed out the final two frames on the mound, striking out five of seven Gramercy batters.

“It was a good start to our season and we were able to do some positive things in game situations,” Terra Ceia coach Jason Wynne said. “We had four indoor practices before our first game, so we are learning game concepts and mental processes during live competition. The guys are adjusting well.”

This week, the Knights (3-1, 1-0 TIC) will travel to Trinity of Greenville on Tuesday and to Ridgecroft on Thursday.
