Both the Washington boys’ and girls’ track and field teams sprinted to first-place finishes on cool, sunny Wednesday afternoon against Farmville Central and North Johnston in fourth meet of the regular season.

The boys’ powered their way to 122.5 points, recording multiple personal records and topping second-place North Johnston by 75 points. Farmville Central finished in third place with a mere 20 points. After finishing in second on Monday, the girls’ came through with a first-place mark of 83 points, while North Johnston came in second with 55 points and Farmville Central third with 21.

For the boys, top finishers for Washington were Javon Whitney (21-10, first place) and Markel Spencer (20-03, second place) in the long jump; Whitney (42-05, first place) and Diavontrei Moore (38-07.50, third place) in the triple jump; Zac Bridgeman (5-08.00, first place), Suaeshawn Poe (5-02.01, second place) and Hasaan Credle (5-02, third place) in the high jump; Brandon Jackson (40-03, second place) in the shot put; Leland Hill (5:35, second place) and Grayson Schmitt (5:36.00, third place) in the 1600-meter run; Hill (2:22, first place) and Shaiquan Moore (2:26, third place) in the 800-meter run; Schmitt (12:22, first place) in the 3200-meter run; Spencer (10.86, first place), Stepfon Rodman (10.99, second place) and Whitney (11.38, third place); Jarquez Keyes (54.42, first place) and Spencer (55, second place) in the 400-meter dash; Spencer (22.19, first place), Rodman (22.50, second place) and Keyes (23.09, third place) in the 200-meter dash; Jahsean Smith (16.70, first place) and Keyes (19.09, second place) in the 100-meter hurdles; Smith (43.42, first place), Moore (43.56, second place) and Brooke (44.97, third place) in the 300-meter hurdles. All four Washington relay teams, led by a collection of mostly underclassmen due to the upperclassmen’s participation in the individual events, finished in first place.

For the girls, top finishers for Washington were Caitlin Hales in the long jump (14-04, second place) and high jump (4-04, first place); Kianah Ruffin (24-07, second place) in the shot put; Guadalpue Hernandez (6:47, second place) and Alexis Murdock (7:04, third place) in the 1600-meter run; Nadaya Windley (2:55.69, first place) and Hernandez (3:07.63, third place) in the 800-meter run; Hernandez (15:22, first place) and Murdock (15:49, second place) in the 3200-meter run; Dajah Smith (13.50, third place) in the 100-meter dash; Alexis Moore (1:08.05, third place) in the 400-meter dash; Smith (29.78, third place) in the 200-meter dash; Cierra Hales (18.29, first place) and Bryce Minor (18.97, second place) in the 100-meter hurdles; Cierra Hales (58.57, second place) in the 300-meter hurdles. Mimicing the boys’ performance, all four of Washington’s primary girls’ relay teams took first place.

Washington will be back in action on Wednesday when the team travels to Farmville Central.
