MYRTLE W. ALLIGOOD

March 18, 1925 — April 16, 2015

 

Mrs. Myrtle Rae Woolard Alligood, age 90, a resident of 203 Hillcrest Drive, Washington, N.C., died Wednesday April 15, 2015 at her home.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on March 18, 1925 daughter of the late Alonza Gray Woolard and Daisy Mae Hardy Woolard. She was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School. Mrs. Alligood was very proud of her education, staying in contact with her classmates and attending class reunions. On September 15, 1945 she married her wonderful husband Manfred Duval Alligood Sr. To this union were born two sons, Manfred Duval Alligood, Jr. and wife Kathy and Toby Ray Alligood and his wife Patricia, all of Washington. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Denise Hudnell and husband William, Stephanie Alligood, Amanda Williams and husband Frank, Manfred Alligood III and wife Lisa, David Alligood, Sarah Chang and husband Dan, Thomas Alligood; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family. She also loved to read and garden, she truly had a green thumb. She and her husband enjoyed travelling both home and abroad.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred Gray Woolard, Coy Ellsworth Woolard and a sister: Ruth Woolard Alligood.
