GILBERT L. RADCLIFFE

May 5, 1938 – April 30, 2015

 

Mr. Gilbert Leland Radcliffe, age 76, a resident of 619 E. Water Street, Belhaven, died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor David Pierce and Pastor Cris Noble.   A celebration of Mr. Radcliffe’s life will follow in the church fellowship hall.

The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Wayne Baynor, Oran Benson, Bill Batey, Wade Cullipher, John Corbett, Jimmy Cox, Chuck Powell, Terry Sparrow, Robert Hoggard, William Jones, Bonner Adams, Earl Jones and Marvin Keech.

Mr. Radcliffe was born in Beaufort County on May 5, 1938.  He was the son of the late Howard Radcliffe and Evora Edwards Radcliffe. Mr. Radcliffe was a graduate of Pantego High School. He was owner of the Gilbert Radcliffe Insurance Agency and had been a licensed Nationwide Insurance agent for 50 years. Mr. Radcliffe had sold Privateer Boats since 1991 and made Beaver Boats since 1983. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Radcliffe loved people, boating and playing golf as long as his health permitted.

In 1957, Mr. Radcliffe married the former Sue Howard, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his children, Gilbert L. “Lee” Radcliffe (Kathy), Ricky Radcliffe (Donna), Keith “Buck” Radcliffe (Robin) all of Belhaven and Terry L. Radcliffe (Anita) of Free Union; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
