The Beaufort County Arts Council will kick-off five weeks of youth summer camps on Saturday with a Theatre Masks Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Turnage Theatre.

Under the direction of workshop instructor Steve Myott, students will learn about different types of theatre masks and puppets, and will create their own mask from start to finish. Immediately following the workshop, students will present their creations for parents, friends and the public.

The workshop is open to young artists ages 6-12. Tuition for the workshop is $30 for BCAC members and $35 for non-members and includes all needed supplies. Students are asked to bring a bag lunch.

Interested persons can call the arts council at 252-946-2504 to register or for more information.

Other youth programs to follow include Let’s Make A Movie Camp (June 15–19), Let’s Put On A Play Camp (June 22–26), and Broadway Kids Camp (July 13–Aug. 1) where this year’s production will be Annie. All information about these and other BCAC events can be found online at www.beaufortcountyartscouncil.org.

The Turnage Theatre is located at 150 W. Main St., Washington.
