HELEN S. MOORE

Nov. 16, 1922 – June 15, 2015

 

Mrs. Helen Louise Smith Wilson Moore, age 92, a former resident of Grimesland, died Monday June 15, 2015 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, June, 17, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by Rev. Michael R. Dixon.

Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on November 16, 1922 to the late William Oscar Smith and Maggie Swain Smith. In 1938 she married Lane Norwood Wilson who preceded her in death in 1959. In 1962 she married Leland Alvin Moore who also preceded her in death. She attended Pitt County Community College to learn the art of being a seamstress. She loved her job, especially when she worked weddings. Mrs. Moore was a loving and blessed mother and grandmother. She loved cooking, gardening and fishing.

Survivors include her three children, Charlie Wilson and wife Glenda of Plymouth, William Lane Wilson and wife Sharon, Carolyn Jean Wilson Dixon Fox and husband Bill, both of Washington, seven grandchildren, George Donald Dixon, Jr., Rev. Michael Ray Dixon, Robert Lane Dixon, Charlie Walter Wilson, Jr., Christopher Wade Wilson, Penny R. Wilson, Michael Spivey, 16 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren with a tenth on the way.

In addition to her parents and husbands she is preceded in death by two sisters, Estelle S. Crisp, Velma Ray Dail, and one foster brother, James Swain.
