Vidant Beaufort Hospital volunteer department recognizes 2015 scholarship recipients

From Vidant Beaufort Hospital

 

The Vidant Beaufort Hospital Volunteer Department recently awarded scholarships totaling $5,850 to 11 local students for their service to the hospital. To be eligible for the scholarship the student must serve as a volunteer at the hospital for at least three summers and work at least 34 hours each summer.

During the summer months, Vidant Beaufort Hospital is supported by a group of junior volunteers called “volunteens. These dedicated students provide a great service to the hospital and patients as well as get a first-hand look at the health care industry. They do anything from discharging patients, delivering various items throughout the hospital, to certain clerical duties.

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

Caleb Alligood, son of Cindy Woolard Alligood and Bryan Alligood, graduated from Northside High School. Caleb plans to study Biology/Pre-Dentistry at East Carolina University.

Savannah Bunn, daughter of Billy and Jennifer Bunn, graduated from Northside High School. Savannah plans to study Chemistry at Duke University.

*Zachary Crawford, son of Mike and Kara Crawford, graduated from the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Zachary plans to study Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University.

Warner Little, daughter of Tim and Regina Little, graduated from Washington High School. Warner plans to study Communications and Psychology at Meredith College.

Anna McLawhorn, daughter of David and Terri Ann McLawhorn, graduated from Washington High School. Anna plans to attend UNC-Charlotte.

Among the recipients are: Catherine Miller, daughter of Gregory and Victoria Miller, graduated from Washington High School. Catherine plans to study Physical Therapy at East Carolina University; Daniel Miller, son of Gary and Lisa Miller, graduated from Northside High School. Daniel plans to attend Pitt County Community College;

Brianna Swain, daughter of Brian and Leigh Swain, graduated from Northside High School. Brianna plans to study Child Development and Family Relations at East Carolina University; Hayden Tankard, son of Robert and Susan Tankard, graduated from Northside High School. Hayden plans to study Civil Engineering at The Citadel; Adriana Tyson, daughter of Kate Whitney, graduated from Washington High School. Adriana plans to study Nursing at Lenoir Community College; Elaine Waters, daughter of George and Cassandra Elliott, graduated from Northside High School. Elaine plans to study Education at Beaufort County Community College.
