Washington’s Young Professionals group is well on its way to becoming a powerhouse organization with regard to the community, networking and providing productive fun for the area’s younger adults. In fact, it has already begun to show a strong presence in the community through past and upcoming outreach.

Think for a minute about what the organization is comprised of — area professionals from one end of the spectrum to the other. Various individuals who represent small businesses, industry, entrepreneurship and the like make up the organization.

Yes, maybe many of its members are young, hence the name, however some of its youngest members have already shown the work they are capable of conducting through self-motivated activities and events.

For example, several weeks ago, Katie Paul of Bardot hair salon took it upon herself to organize and host a Wine and Design event, inviting other young professionals to have a little bit of fun while raising money for Ruth’s House, the Beaufort County-based domestic violence shelter. The small event that hosted around a dozen people raised $325 to benefit victims of domestic violence in the area.

Activities like the one at Bardot make a difference in the lives of others. Moving forward, the organization plans to host similar events, those that give young members fun activities, in which they are able to meet and build connections with other local professionals.

This organization is a continuously growing network of people who can not only give their time to benefit area nonprofits and other worthy causes, but also can pull resources together from the various businesses they represent to do good in the community.

Washington’s Young Professionals are using their group to not only bring the community closer together via meet and greets and other activities, but also using their abilities and resources to make the area better for everyone.
