Asa Bryant “A.B.” Rouse
April 15, 1931 – July 28, 2015

Asa Bryant “A.B.” Rouse, age 84, a resident of Washington, passed away on July 28, 2015 at his home.  Mr. Rouse was born in Beaufort County on April 15, 1931 to the late Asa Bryant Rouse, Sr. and Belle Wallace Rouse. He was also predeceased by his sister, Mary R. Elks and his brothers, Albert Dalmore Rouse, Edward “Ed” Warren Rouse and James Ottis “Ottis” Rouse.

On November 20, 1959 he married the love of his life, the former Peggy Ann Baker, who survives.  He is also survived by his sons: James Bryant Rouse (Sylvia) of Greenville, NC and Thomas Neal Rouse and fiancée Gayle Fisher, both of Washington and former daughter-in-law: Kim Watson of Washington. Other survivors include six grandchildren: Daniel, Matthew, Brandon, Katlin, Jordan and Ethan Rouse; six great-grandchildren: Zoe, Jacob, Sydnie and Emma Rouse and Alexis and Emanuel Rogers.

A lifelong resident of Beaufort County, he attended Beaufort County Schools and was employed by Maola for 34 years and Hamilton Beach for 11 years.  He was a member of First Baptist Church for 84 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and Peggy’s country cooking.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Chaplain Bonnie Snyder, RN BSN with Acera Care Hospice and assisted by Gregory “Greg” Ramsey.  Music will be provided by Tommy Hodges and Doug Cutler. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers:  Joe Baker, Jason Baker, Ken Bridgeman, Dewitt Hardison, Daniel Rouse and Matthew Rouse.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service and at other times at the home.
