BCCA minute: Just what you didn’t know about BCCA

Did you know a group of townspeople got together in 1976 and created an organization to bring professional musicians and performers into our neck of the woods? Did you know they were so bent on making this work that they went door-to-door in neighborhoods? “Do you want music in our home town?” they asked. “Yes we do,” a large number of folks responded.

Did you know B.C.C.A. introduces students in our town to many of these performers? For free? “What do you want to be when you grow up?” “A musician.” “Well, here’s how we became musicians . . .”

We still want music. You could grab a neighbor and come for the five concerts this season. Did you know we can’t continue without new members?

Larry Ahlman is president of the Beaufort County Concert Association. The concerts are Oct. 20th; Nov. 19th; Feb. 16th –All at 7:30 p.m. plus April 17th & May 15th at 3 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center of Washington High School. Web site: www.gobcca.org.
