Charles A. “Charlie” Davis

Mr. Charles A. “Charlie” Davis, 78, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.

The funeral services will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home, on Sunday, August  23, at 4 p.m.

Charlie was born in Eden, North Carolina, on February 27, 1937, to the late Charles Algernon Davis and Mary Gladys Stephenson Davis. He married the love of his life, Faye Davis, and graduated from North Carolina State University. Charlie worked for Fieldcrest Cannon Mills/Mohawk, where he was a devoted employee for over 40 years.  He was the personnel manager at the time of his retirement.  His love of all sports led him to work as a referee and umpire for Greenville Parks and Recreation for many years. Charlie’s favorite hobbies were golf, hunting, fishing and playing cards with all of his friends. He will be dearly missed, but affectionately remembered by his beloved family and friends for his kindness, laughter and friendship.  Charlie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Faye S. Davis,

son Charles A. Davis, III and his partner, Louis Lindic of Atlanta, Georgia, his daughter, Sharon D. Cullipher of Greenville, his son Greg C. Davis and wife, Monica Davis of Washington; grandchildren, Bridgette Cullipher, Tucker Davis and Lilly Davis. He is also survived by his sister, Isadora Johnson and her husband, Don Johnson of Wake County and her children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Human Society of Eastern North Carolina.

The family would like to thank 3HC Home Health & Hospice Care for the compassion and care shown to their family during Charlie’s illness.
