He graduated in 1949 with an AB degree from Bowdoin College, having interrupted his studies to serve with the US Army Finance Department in Germany from 1947-1948.  His professional sales and marketing career began at Sample-Durick Co. in Chicopee, MA.  He also worked with Champion Packaging, Boise Cascade and Mail Well Envelopes.  Ed had a love of choral music which spanned his lifetime and included performing with the Bowdoin College Meddibempsters (Brunswick, ME), Fairfield (CT) County Chorale, the Montgomery County (MD) Masterworks Chorus, the Paul Hill Chorale (Washington, DC), Greenville (NC) Choral Society and finally the Beaufort County Choral Society (NC). Upon his “retirement” to Washington in 1988, Ed began a second career in real estate. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington, where he was a member of the choir and served as an elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Washington Down East Seniors (Past Treasurer), Kiwanis Club Golden K and the Washington Yacht and Country Club.  Ed loved living in Washington and was proud to call it home.
