RIVERSIDE 42, NORTHSIDE 0

PINETOWN — Dual-threat quarterback Jeremiah Wilson ran all over the Northside front seven on Friday in a 42-0 rout of the Panthers at Bing Mitchell Stadium.

The Knights’ defense, which has been subject through the first four weeks, had its best game of the season, limiting the Panthers to just 104 yards of total offense and keeping quarterback Jackson Midgette under a constant state of pressure. Midgette completed 3-of-9 passes for 54 yards, including an interception.

Riverside led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and found the endzone three more times before the half. The Knights scored another touchdown in the third with a successful two-point conversion.

The Panthers’ running game also struggled, as scat back Chris Slade’s three carries for 33 yards was all the offense the backfield could muster. Dawson Jackson finished with two catches for 16 yards.

With the loss, Northside drops to 2-2 and will travel to Bethel next week to take on North Pitt.

SOUTHSIDE 50, SPRING CREEK 14

SEVEN SPRINGS — Southside preserved its undefeated record on Friday with a dominant 50-14 victory over Spring Creek.

Following a 225-yard performance against Riverside last week, senior running back Lawrence Brown had yet another impressive night, rushing for a game-high 166 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Senior wingback Matt Baxter also finished with 136 yards on the ground with four touchdowns on 11 carries. It was the Seahawks’ second-straight game with over 500 yards of total offense.

In the first quarter, Baxter found the endzone twice, while Spring Creek’s Jessie Casper capped off a long drive with a score of his own. But from there, the Southside running game took over, scoring twice in the second quarter, including a 21-yard scamper from Brown, to bring the halftime lead to 32-6. Baxter found the endzone two more times in the second half, while Joe Myers capped the game off with a 62-yard run with 7:41 remaining.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 5-0 heading into their bye week.
