Memories of the best weekend

To the Editor:

I have just come from Old Ford Church of Christ where the Class of 1960 had our class reunion. I am like Bartow, a flashback, thinking about those halls in Old Washington High School on Eighth Street. The boys, today, got to hug and kiss the girls that we wanted to in those school days.

I was glad to see all the classmates, some that I had not seen since 1960. My best rememberance is our Senior Washington, D.C. trip. I will never forget that as long as I live. That was a $90 week-long bus trip and hotel stay. The girls on the third floor and boys on the sixth floor. Donald Boyd, Jimmy Thad Hodges and I stayed in one room. We had four chaperones with the trip: Mrs. Sally Tally, Mrs. Pat Askew, Mr. James Blanton and Mr. Bob Langley. We had a great time.

The best weekend I ever had was the Emmaus Walk on P.E. 46, “The Cross.”

We still do the same, Saturday, as we did every morning for 12 school years and two years at Chowan University and still doing at Ridgewood Manor Rehabilitation and Living Center; Morning Devotion with the blessing of the food and for our life.

God Bless,

James Lawrence Alligood Jr.
