Cameron Shae Holloway and Bruce Wiggins

From the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office

On Sept. 24, at approximately 12:51 a.m., Cpl. Michael Sheppard with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of River Road in Washington. Sheppard checked the plate number of a car in front of him through the NC DMV database. Sheppard learned the license plate was valid. Sheppard then checked the registered owner’s information through the DMV database and learned that the registered owner’s license was suspended.

Sheppard conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on River Road near Asbury Church Road in Washington. During the traffic stop, he smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Sheppard spoke with the driver and noted that he was acting extremely nervous. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a Ziploc bag containing a large amount of individual pieces of marijuana and another bag containing $1,800 and a digital scale in the trunk of the vehicle. A partially burnt cigar containing marijuana was found during a search of the passenger.

As a result of the stop, Sheppard arrested the driver, Cameron Shae Holloway, age 36, of North Respess Street in Washington, with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintain a vehicle for keeping and selling a controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than half ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and driving while license revoked. Sheppard also arrested the passenger, Bruce Wiggins, age 52, of Summerhaven Drive in Greenville, and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were brought before Magistrate Eric Holmes. Holloway was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond. Wiggins was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $1,000 secured bond.
