Roland Neal Cox, age 72, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Major Floyd Langley. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Roland was born in Beaufort County on April 14, 1943 to the late Willie Charlie Cox and Lonia Mae Boyd Cox. On September 24, 1960 he married Sudie Mae Cox who preceded him in death on May 22, 2015.

Roland worked for National Spinning for 37 years as a technician. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Roland loved to be outside, to fish, to tinker with cars and to sing, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Susie Cox Kelly and husband Joe of Greensboro, Peggy Sue Cox Norman and husband Sam of Washington, two grandchildren, Phillip Kelly and wife Krista of Greensboro, Stephen Norman of Washington, one great grandchild, Kaylie Kelly, one brother, Marvin Cox of Washington and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Sudie Mae Cox, Roland is preceded in death by two brothers, David Cox, Carlton Cox, and one sister, Susie Pauline Cox.
