The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Oct. 29 at the Washington Yacht & Country Club in the upper deck overlooking the waters of Broad Creek. Past-President Bill Wall opened the meeting with a welcome to the members and asked Bartow Houston to lead in the singing of America the Beautiful. Club Chaplain Bruce Rabon, who recently returned from South Carolina where the local Salvation Army was delivering meals to those affected by the recent storm, offered a blessing for the upcoming meal and prayers for those who suffered during the inclement weather. Rotarian Sandy Mitchell recently returned from an extended absence and presented Club Secretary Sam Grimes with a club banner from the North Lake George Rotary Club in Ticonderoga, N.Y. Following the meal, Rotarian Rocky Jacobs gave another educational and inspirational talk about Rotary’s long history of service projects which began in Chicago and have spread throughout the world. He pointed out that there are more Rotary Clubs in different countries than there are countries in the United Nations.

The meeting concluded with the Rotarians saying the Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do.
