Richard Robinson

Richard Robinson, 92 years young, a resident of Washington, died on Thursday, November 19, 2015.  He was at home surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully in his own bed and on his own terms.

Dick graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont where his time there was interrupted by WWII. He enlisted in the Army-Air Force as a Meteorologist.  Following, he was owner and operator of Robinson’s Book Store of Watertown, NY before moving south. Known for his jokes and storytelling, Dick was loved by all and will be missed by everyone that ever met him. A joyful soul, he would approach total strangers just to say a kind word or to spread his love of life.

While in Washington, he volunteered for Adopt-a-Highway, Meals on Wheels and at the NC Estuarium.

A memorial gathering for friends will be held on Saturday, November 21st. There will be a separate celebration of his life around 4th of July in Northern NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Heart Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, three sons, one daughter, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dick and his wife have lived in Washington for almost 20 years and moved here for the weather and sail boating.
