Mrs. Shirley Gray Davis Bell, age 91, a resident of Pungo Village, Belhaven, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 23, 2015 at West Belhaven Church of Christ in Belhaven, conducted by Marshall Marslender, Ray Turner and  Jim Scheffler.  Burial will follow in Mount Olive Church of Christ Cemetery.

The following will serve as pall bearers:  Roger Best, David Best, Brett Turner, Wayne Russ, Freddie Sawyer and Reid Cooper.

Mrs. Bell was born in Hyde County on December 25, 1923.  She was the daughter of the late Jesse McCray Davis and Belle Caroline Vail Davis.  Mrs. Bell was the retired manager of the Roses’ Department Store in Belhaven with 42 years of service.  She was a member of the West Belhaven Church of Christ and held a weekly Bible Study in her home as long as her health permitted.

On December 6, 1970, she married Joel Preston Bell, who preceded her in death, August 17, 2005.

Mrs. Bell is survived by several nephew and nieces including Gail Turner and her husband, Ray of Dawsonville, Ga.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her siblings, Thelma Gordon, Madelyn Robinson, Clarence Davis, Jasper Davis, Stora Lee Mangum, Donald Best and Louise Best.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and other times at her home.
