OVERWHELMING: Daria Jones leads a fast break in a game against Southside earlier this season. She scored 7 points in the second quarter of Friday’s win over Beddingfield.

Beddingfield scored 55 points in the second half to defeat Washington, 81-66. It’s the second straight loss to a 2-A Eastern Plains foe. The Pam Pack now sits at 1-2 in the league.

The visiting Bruins scored 26 points in the first half and was able to stave off Washington’s offense to take a 26-21 lead into halftime. EJ Moody and Miguel Brown were the catalysts for Beddingfield’s second-half surge. The duo combined for 24 points in the final 16 minutes.

Washington’s offense fared better in the second half, too. The Pam Pack scored 18 in the third and surged for 24 in the fourth, but the defense couldn’t slow down the Bruins, which made it tough to close the gap.

Beddingfield improves to a perfect 3-0 in the league. Washington wraps up its four-game home stand with North Johnston on Jan. 22. It will be an opportunity to get back to .500 in the conference.

Shutdown defense and fluid offense helped propel Washington’s girls to a 59-24 win over Beddingfield. The win is their first in the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference.

The Lady Bruins notched 10 points in the second quarter. It was the only period in which they reached double figures. Washington possessed a 28-15 lead at halftime and held Beddingfield to just one basket in the third, allowing them to keep adding to the lead.

The girls did just that, too. They poured in 21 points in the third quarter alone, thanks in part to numerous trips to the free-throw line. Nazayah Parker and Cierra Wiggins also combined for 10 points in the period, too.

The Pam Pack will look to build on this dominant win when it hosts North Johnston on Jan. 22.
