The Saturday Night Jamboree rang in the New Year recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Marlene Sprouse signed in 140 clients with the help of caring volunteers Elwood Sprouse and Joyce Carawan, Tine Woolard and Michael Cutler.

DJ Kenny Beacham played music for dancing, while longtime volunteer Michael Cutler kept a close watch at the door.

Following a blessing asked by Robert Cox, refreshments were served by the Beaufort County LaGrange. Those assisting in serving included: Velvet Avery, Kay and Marlow Johnson, LaRue, Starla, Starlyn, Harley and Marvin Jr. Alligood, Crystal Hooper, Mavis Woolard, Robert and Debra Cayton, Martha Daris and Dorcas O’Rourke.

Elwood and Marlene and Kenny led the group in singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and for the January birthdays.

The next Jamboree will be the Valentine Jamboree on Feb. 13.

All mentally/physically challenged residents and all volunteers are urged to attend.

Anyone wishing to volunteer, provide music or refreshments, or make contributions to the Saturday Night Jamboree may call Jamboree President Marlene Sprouse at 252-946-4350.

Respectfully submitted by: Tine Woolard.
