BLOUNTS CREEK — Approximately 90 young Cub Scouts and leaders gathered recently for a “Back to Basics Spring Cub-o-ree” held at Camp Boddie in Blounts Creek.

The weekend’s activities included archery, first aid, target practice, campfire building, knot tying and scavenger hunts. Scouts from throughout Beaufort County and surrounding areas were among those in attendance.

“It’s an opportunity for all the boys to come together with other units,” said Brandon Kleimann, district executive with the Blackbeard District, which is part of the East Carolina Council. “They get to interact with Scouts they usually don’t know through school and other things. They learn new skills and have fun.”

The Scouts and their leaders arrived on a Friday evening and dispersed after church services Sunday.

The Cub-o-ree is part of scouting opportunities hosted by Camp Boddie throughout the year, according to Kleimann.
