JOHN SMALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HONEST EAGLES: John Small Elementary School celebrated its honest Eagles on March 24. Each teacher is given the responsibility monthly to select one student to represent the class as the student who most exhibits the character trait of the month. He or she will be a special guest at a monthly “Lunch Bunch” co-hosted by the school's PTA and Papa John's Pizza. The character trait for the month of March was honesty — telling the truth no matter what the consequences. The Lunch Bunch guest speaker was Scott Bircher, worship/student pastor at Covenant Church, Washington campus. He grabbed the students’ attention with a tune on his harmonica and then invited students to sing along to a song on his guitar. The crowd pleaser was “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers. Pastor Scott shared how it was important to be honest in everything you do and that trust was a result of honesty. What a treat he was! The JSS Character Education Committee is co-chaired by Kathryn Bryant, fifth-grade teacher, and Chynna Bonner, school counselor.
