Christine Harris Kelly, “MeMa” to all that knew and loved her, of 795 Cedar Village Road, Belhaven, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Terra Ceia Church of Christ with Billy Ray Askew officiating. Burial will follow in Soule Cemetery in Swan Quarter. Brandon Barnes, Jordan Swindell, Brandon Swindell, Devin Whichard, Stephen Sparrow and Brandon Birt will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.

She was born on January 20, 1942 in Swan Quarter to the late Harvey Elmo Harris and Ercell Dell Rose. She grew up in Hyde County and spent a lot of her life there. She lived in Roanoke Rapids for a few years then moved to Belhaven where she touched a lot of hearts with her kind sweet attitude. She was a homemaker most of her life and always had lots of extra “kids and grandkids.”

She is survived by one brother, George B. Harris and wife, Eloise of Roanoke Rapids; one daughter, Peggy Green Gibbs of Pantego and one son, George H. Flowers of Sanford, NC; three grandchildren, Christy J. Small and Jennifer M. Green, also of Pantego, and Ryan Gentry of Asheville; two great-grandchildren, Allisa A. Small and Devin K. Whichard of Pantego; last but not least, her beloved K-9 companion, Brandy, who was right by her side every possible moment; lots of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Eva Walker, brothers, Thomas S. Harris and Percy A. Harris and a granddaughter, Jessica D. Green.
