WASHINGTON EVENING ROTARY CLUB
WINNING TICKET: Rotary member Russell Smith (left) was the lucky winner of a Washington waterfront photo donated by Steve Orr. Orr shared photos of his many travels during this week’s Washington (evening) Rotary Club meeting.

The Washington (evening) Rotary Club held their weekly meeting Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. After a social period in the Upper Deck, the members moved to the Pamlico Room for dinner and a program.

President David McLawhorn called the meeting to order. After the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” the club enjoyed a really nice meal. Tickets were sold for Jack of Diamonds and a chance to win a beautiful photograph of the Washington waterfront provided by the evening speaker. Program chairman Russell Smith then came forward to introduce Mr. Steve Orr, retired corporate executive and photography enthusiast. Orr began his program with a stirring patriotic video that captured members’ attention early on. After the video, he took the club “around the world” with 10 photos he selected from a personal collection of over 75,000. Each photo, beginning at Kilby Island, and ending in Hong Kong, carried a personal story from Orr. His extensive travels and experience opened the door for many questions and comments from members.

Russell Smith was the winner of the waterfront photo donated by Orr. After a wonderful program, the meeting came to an end as members recited the Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say and Do.
