Bath High preservation group hosts oyster roast

On Saturday, a large crowd gathered at the Selby farm in Bath for the annual Bath High School Preservation oyster roast. The event featured plenty of oyster shucking, a silent auction and raffle for a John Deere Gator. Proceeds go toward the renovation and revitalization of the old Bath High School. Last year’s roast raised more than $27,500 for the BHSP organization’s cause.

Sponsors included Ponzer Volunteer Fire Department, Mark Keyzer, Washington Crab and Oyster and more than 75 volunteers. Wilson Paul, of Howell’s Merchantile, was the top salesperson for the raffle tickets. Tom Pederson, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, won the John Deere Gator.

Mike Godley captured these scenes on Saturday night.
