Mrs. Oma Jae Harris-Buettner, age 81, a former resident of Market Street Extension, Washington, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing home in Washington.

A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, conducted by Rev. Leslie Mills.

Mrs. Harris-Buettner was born April 23, 1939, in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Frank Woolard and Daisy Carol Woolard. Mrs. Harris-Buettner was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very active member of Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church, as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Harris-Buettner started the first Young Adult Sunday School Class, was a Youth Group leader and, along with her husband, sang in the Church choir.

Mrs. Harris-Buettner is survived by her daughters, Pamela Harris Crooke (Donald), Patsy E. Harris; son, Kenneth Ray Harris (Ann); grandchildren, Joshua Rowland (Laura), Brandon Smith, Elizabeth Crooke; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Carson and Carleigh Rowland; sister, Carol Latham; and two brothers, Bobby and Melvin Woolard.

The family received friends at the home of her son, Ken Harris, 104 Camelia Drive, Washington, and following the service at the graveside.
