On Dec. 30 Commissioners tabled an amendment which would allow county personnel to be paid for additional time they work during weeks when they were ill and used sick time.
Under existing law, sick leave hours are replaced by actual hours worked if the employee works additional hours on nights or weekends during the same work week.
Employees earn one day a month for sick leave, County Engineer Mark Sorenson said.
Sorenson proposed an amendment that would allow the county to pay workers for paid sick leave and additional work the same week.
Commissioners agreed with the amendment, but voted to table the issue in order for Kendall County assistant attorney Don Allee to work out the wording.
