Police and Sheriff's departments in many Texas Communities, including agencies in Kendall County will be in full force to reduce traffic related fatalities during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Results of special statewide demonstration Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs (STEPS) conducted in Texas affirm that coordinated waves of enforcement, surveys, public information and education are feasible, manageable, and highly effective in reducing traffic-related fatalities, injuries and cost.
Reports from these demonstrations STEPs show significant increases in safety belt use percentage rates, high-level law enforcement participation, and extensive publicity generated from both state and community program activity.
Kendall County Sheriff's Office during the holiday week of thanksgiving will do concentrated traffic enforcement in the Comfort Area, and the Boerne Police Department, also participating in this program, will be doing enforcement in the City of Boerne.
Under this program other areas of the county will have concentrated enforcement during other Holiday STEPs. One of the main goals of our office is to reduce injuries to occupants and unsecured children carried without the use of seat belts or approved Child Safety Seats.
I, Henry B. Hodge, as Sheriff of Kendall County, wish to remind all of the residents of Kendall County that buckling up your seat belt is not an option, it's the law.
Children under the age of 4 years of age and any child regardless of age under the height of 36" must be secured in an approved Child Safety Seat.
The drivers and front passengers of all vehicles, with very few exceptions, must be secured by buckled seat belts.
We at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office hope that you have a safe holiday, and that any residents of Kendall County that are traveling for the Holiday return safely.
