Mrs. Elsie Lilley Woolard, 79, of 2821 Slatestone Road, Washington, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at Beaufort County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held in the Paul Funeral Home chapel in Washington on Monday at 4 p.m., conducted by Mike Caton. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. The elders and deacons of Rosemary Church will serve as pallbearers. The family will greet friends at Paul Funeral Home on Monday afternoon from 3 until 4 p.m. and at other times at her home.
Mrs. Woolard was born in the Belhaven community of Beaufort County Dec. 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Jordan Lilley and Minnie Alligood Lilley. She was a graduate of Bath High School and, on Feb. 17, 1943, was married to Lester Plum Woolard, who survives. She was a member of the Rosemary Church of Christ and was a homemaker.
Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Reita W. Manning, and her husband Ray of Washington; a son, Carl Gene Woolard and his wife Ann Farmer Woolard of Washington; a sister, Annie Mae Angell of Beaumont, Texas.; three grandchildren, Wendy Paul and her husband John, Lisa Waters and husband Tim, and Chris Manning; and a great-grandchild, Latham Waters.
She was preceded in death by her daughter's twin sister, Leita May Woolard, in July 1950; her sister, Ercel Dillon; and brothers, Lewis Lilley and Ronald Lilley.
Arrangements are by Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
