Murral R. "Doc" Johnson

Mr. Murral R. "Doc" Johnson, 74, of Matoaca, Va., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003.
A funeral was conducted Feb. 21, 2003, in Woodlawn Baptist Church, Colonial Heights, Va., with the Rev. Drs. Mason and Hales officiating. Burial, with military honors, followed at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va.
Mr. Johnson was born in Pinetown, the son of the late C.R. and Laura Waters Johnson. He was married to Margaret L. Johnson, who survives. He was retired from the Army and Security Trust Life Insurance Co. He was wounded in action during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of The Gideons International, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of The Purple Heart. He was past commander of DAV Chapter 47 in Petersburg, Va. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Colonial Heights, Va., where he was an ordained deacon.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn J. Riding of Glen Allen, Va.; one son, Daniel R. Johnson of Glen Allen, Va.; three sisters, Mable Brooks, Frances Maynard and Mittie Alligood; and four grandchildren.
