Johnnie Ray Crandell, 82, of Green Street, Robersonville, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Martin General Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at the Biggs Funeral Home chapel at 11 a.m. today with David Brown and James O. Hagwood officiating.
Mr. Crandell was born in Pitt County on Sept. 14, 1920 to the late Charles Augustus Crandell and Sarah Leggett Crandell. A retired businessman, Mr. Crandell was a member of the First Christian Church. He served in the Army in World War II. On Nov. 27, 1947, he married LaRue Roebuck Crandell who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Sandra Manning Paul of Raleigh and Elaine Crandell Whitaker of Cape Hatteras; one sister, Mary Frances Mizelle of Fayetteville; one brother, Cecil Crandell of Stokes; and five grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, the Robersonville Rescue Squad or the charity of one's choice.
