Mrs. Evelyn Edmondson Bland, 80, formerly of White Oak Lane, Plymouth, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Durham Regional Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Horner-Walker Funeral Home, Plymouth, with the Rev. Leonard Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bland was born in Martin County on April 3, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Taylor Edmondson. She was married to Cecil Hugh "Tommy" Bland who preceded her in death on March 2, 1994. She was a homemaker. She had attended Hope Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Russell E. Bland of Durham; one daughter, Loretta Coburn of Mansfield, La.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Arthur, Bobby and J.T. Edmondson; and one sister, Daisy E. Whitley.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Horner-Walker Funeral Home, Plymouth.
Thelma C. Brown
Mrs. Thelma Coltrain Brown, 84, of South Main Street, Robersonville, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at IHS of Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Biggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brown was born in Griffin Township on Aug. 15, 1918. She was the daughter of the late James Lawrence Coltrain and Bessie Beatrice Brown Coltrain. On April 23, 1986, she married W.T. Brown Sr., who survives. She was a graduate of Farm Life School. She was an area sales representative for Luzier Products and was a retired instructor at Martin Community College. She was a member of Robersonville First Christian Church.
Survivors include one stepson, Butch Brown of Robersonville; one stepdaughter, Cassie B. Lee of Washington; and three stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Coltrain and Archie Coltrain; and four sisters, Mattie Coltrain, Elizabeth C. Daniel, Marie C. Manning and Eva Brown Coltrain Griffin.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
