James Richie Collins, 61, a former resident of Beech Ridge Road, Belhaven, N.C., died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in the Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, N.C.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003 at the Washington Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with President Jim Draper officiating. Burial will follow in the William Keech family cemetery, Free Union community of Pinetown, N.C.
The family will join friends Friday morning prior to the funeral service from 9:45 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Washington Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 80 Cedar Circle.
Josh Clark, Michael Collins, William Keech, Bobby Spencer, Hoyt Spencer and Timothy Spencer will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Collins was born on Oct. 13, 1941, in McDowell County, Welch, W. Va., and was the son of the late Robert Linwood and Amanda Ann Ballard Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Spencer Collins, on Oct. 24, 2000.
He was a retired civil engineer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Theresa C. Morton and Tarra Collins, both of Greensboro, N.C., and Tamarah C. Costello of Austin, Texas; one brother, Michael Vincent Collins of Salem, Va.; and three grandchildren, Maranda Mays, Linsey Costello and Madison Morton.
