Mrs. Minnie Elizabeth Woolard Hopkins, 83, a resident of Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home, Washington, and formerly of 184 Swamp Road, Pantego, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Temple of Jesus Christ United Church, Washington, with Elder Lee Brimmage officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) cemetery, Bath.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 2, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Lamb and Minnie Williams Woolard. She attended the Beaufort County schools. She was married to Thomas O. Hopkins, who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Bath.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda J. Matthews of Long Island, N.Y., Joyce A. Fluelling of Mitchville, Md., Ann E. Cunningham of Engelhard and Doris M. Hopkins of Pantego; six sons, Marvin E. Hopkins of Pinetown, Thomas Hopkins of Greenville, Elder Leonard R. Hopkins of Blounts Creek, James O. Hopkins of Brooklyn, N.Y., Earnest Hopkins of Pantego and Perry Hopkins of Washington; four sisters, Callie Mae Windley, Beulah Woolard, Ethel Webb and Eula Bailey, all of Washington; two brothers, Bishop James Lee Woolard and Bolden Lamb Woolard, both of Washington; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Blondal Crandall; one sister, Pearl Woolard; and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Earnest Hopkins, 182 Swamp Road, Pantego.
