Mrs. Lossie Bell Boyd Beatty, 77, of 335 Cherry Run Road, Washington died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Assembly of the Children of God Church, Washington with pastor William Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Boyd family cemetery, Cherry Run Road, Washington.
Mrs. Beatty was born in Beaufort County on March 7, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Ella Lewis Boyd and Frank Boyd. She graduated from P.S. Jones High School, Washington. She retired as a health care nurse's aide from the Clinton Memorial Hospital and Beaufort County Hospital. She was married to Cornelius Lilley who preceded her in death. She later married James E. Beatty who also preceded her in death. She was a former member of Beebe Chapel CME Church, Washington and was later affiliated with World Wide Church of God, Washington. At her death, she was a member of the Assembly of the Children of God Church, Washington where she served as a church mother, Sunday school superintendent, senior choir member and in various other auxiliaries.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Joyce Lilley and Barbara Lilley Boyd, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Elder James F. Beatty of Washington and Cornelius Lilley Jr. of Sumter, S.C.; one sister, Doris Mills of Washington; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Keyes, Virginia Warren and Josephine Boyd and two brothers, Issac Boyd and Frank Boyd.
Viewing will take place today from 2 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington after which the body will be available for viewing at the home.
