James Richard Conner, 82, of 111 Rhodes Ave., Windsor, died Sunday, March 14, 2003 at his home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Conner was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Bertie County. He was the son of the late William McKinley and Martha Phelps Conner. He was a member of Windsor Assembly of God. He retired from Lea Lumber Co. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Rose Conner of Windsor; two daughters, Brenda C. Harrison of Askewville and Kathy C. Spivey of Windsor; a son, Jackie Conner of Windsor; four sisters, Gladys C. Holiday and Vishti C. Smithwick, both of Windsor, Sybil C. Ambrose of Aulander and Faye C. Jernigan of Askewville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor.
