Wilson putting up big numbers

WILSON -- Rufus Wilson continues to have a solid season for the Barton College Bulldogs.
The sophomore, a former Washington Pam Pack standout, is hitting at a .388 clip. He's homered three times, driven in 16 runs and scored 28 times.
Wilson's batting average is second best on the team. He leads the team in on-base percentage (.480), runs (28), hits (33) and doubles (nine).
Wilson is second on the Bulldogs in slugging percentage (.600), RBIs (16) and walks (12), while his three home runs rank him third highest on the team.
Wilson also has a .972 fielding percentage while helping to turn 15 double plays.
The Bulldogs (16-10, 5-4 Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference) host Rappahannok Community College today before visiting Erskine on Friday.
Swift rips two doubles
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Patrick Swift collected a pair of hits in Chowan's 5-2 loss to Christopher Newport on Sunday.
Swift, a sophomore and former Williamston standout, went 2-for-4 for the Braves (8-11, 0-2). Both of his hits went for doubles.
Swift is hitting .241 with three runs and five RBIs.
Chowan plays host to Southern Virginia College today.
Furlough showing solid defense
PEMBROKE -- Jessica Furlough is having a steady season for UNC-Pembroke, both in the field and at the plate.
The former Pam Pack standout has a .941 fielding percentage. She's hitting .214 with three runs and two RBIs for the Braves (9-18, 1-5).
The Braves visit North Carolina Central for a doubleheader on Thursday.
