Augustus Moore

Mr. Augustus Williams "Gus" Moore, age 72, formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at his home in Edenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003, from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, with S. Ray West and Steve Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Moore's nephews will serve as pallbearers: James Lupton Jr., David Lupton, Ray David Moore, Jerry Moore, Joel Moore, Reid Moore, Phil Moore and Robby Moore.
Mr. Moore was born in the Old Ford community of Beaufort County, Sept. 4, 1930. He was the son of the late Samuel David Moore and Myrtle Gold Williams Moore. From 1955 to 1976, Mr. Moore lived in the Tidewater area of Virginia, where he worked at the Newport News Shipyard and as service manager for Tidewater Mobile Homes. From 1976 to 1999, he was a self-employed carpenter.
Mr. Moore was the faithful and devoted husband for more than 52 years to Wilma Grey Warren Moore, formerly of Belhaven. He was a loving father to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur David Moore, Ray Stearns Moore and Samuel David Nicholas Moore; and one sister, Susie Kate Moore Riggs.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, March 21, 2003, at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, and at other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Sandra Moore, 7026 Market Street Extension, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834. Arrangements by Paul Funeral Home, Washington, N.C.
