Mrs. Elizabeth Blount, 75, of 107 N. Sixth St., Creswell, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mark AME Zion Church with the Rev. Jay McNair officiating. Burial will follow in Rhodes family cemetery.
Mrs. Blount was born in Washington County on June 13, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Susan Rhodes Bennett and Ludie Bennett. She was married to Herbert H. Blount Sr., who survives. She was employed as a seamstress with Flair Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church, where she served as a deaconess and an usher and where she was past president of both the Missionary Club and the Stewardess Board.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert H. Blount Jr. of Plymouth, William L. Blount of Creswell and Raymond L. Blount Sr. of Raleigh; one daughter, Mary A. Bowens of Creswell; two brothers, Ludie Bennett Jr. of Hyattsville, Md., and Robert Bennett Sr. of Lanham, Md.; one sister, Mildred Ashton of Washington, D.C.; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7 p.m. at St. Mark AME Zion Church and at other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Toodle's Funeral Home, Plymouth.
