Mr. Donald Wayne Hardy, 56, of 3489 U.S. Highway 17 South, Chocowinity, died Friday morning, March 28, 2003, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2003, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with D.J. Maxey and Mike Caton officiating. Burial followed in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Lee Spivey, Tex Coward, David Porter, Terry Spears, Donald Ray Purser and Tony Jackson served as pallbearers.
Mr. Hardy was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Pitt County. He was the son of Sadie Haddock Hardy and the late Leon Hardy. On Oct. 23, 1965, he married the former Patricia Dunbar. Mr. Hardy was the owner and operator of Hardy's Body Shop, the Gambler Racing Team and Choco Service Center. He was a member at Haw Branch Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia D. Hardy; his mother, Sadie H. Hardy of Farmville; one daughter, Lisa H. Ingalls and husband, Brett H. Ingalls of Washington; and one son, Jeff Hardy of Washington; one grandson, Joshua Wayne Hardy; five sisters, Helen Manning and Mavis Woolard, both of Washington, Nellie Jones and Alice Faye Jones, both of Vanceboro and Vivian Coward of Grimesland; and two brothers, Eugene Hardy of Greenville and Billy Hardy of Beaufort.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Hardy.
