Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tripp Lyles, 84, of 511 Abbott Road, Henderson, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Granville Medical Center, Oxford.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home, Henderson, with the Revs. Robert Kelley and Frank Sossamon officiating. Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, with the Rev. Sylvia Kohus officiating.
Mrs. Lyles was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 28, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Styron and Edwin Reade Tripp. She was a Navy veteran, serving as a WAVE during World War II. She was married to Nathaniel T. “Tinker” Lyles, who preceded her in death. She was a cashier at Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre and was a former bookkeeper at the former Crowell Chevrolet Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Washington.
Survivors include one daughter, Beth Lyles of Henderson and one son, Steve Lyles of Kittrell.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home, Henderson, and other times at the home of her son, 384 Bobbitt Road, Kittrell.
