Mr. Billy Ray Kight, 72, of Ahoskie, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Va.
A memorial service will be held today at 10 a.m. in the Carpenters Shop Church, Ahoskie. A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell, with pastor Mike Blowe officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kight was born in Tyrrell County on Jan. 6, 1934. He was the son of the late Johnie and Daisy Etheridge Kight. He was an Army veteran. He was married to Muriel Jean Kight, who survives. He was a retired construction contractor. He attended Closer Walk Ministries.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra K. Cutchins of Suffolk, Va., Sheryl K. Moore of Severn, and Billie Jo Eure of Eure; one son, Michael R. Kight of Como; one sister, Pat K. Thompson of Chesapeake, Va., and six grandchilden.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
