Mr. Elmer Alton Griffin, 90, formerly of 133 Griffin Lane, Washington, died Friday Jan. 5, 2007, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Paul Funeral Home of Washington with the Rev. Dianne Catlett officiating. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.
Todd Griffin, Scott Griffin, Brad Griffin, Randy Moore, Walter Clark and Kevin Griffin will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Griffin was born in Pitt County on Aug. 11, 1916. He was the son of the late Louis Henry Griffin and Addie Louvenia Griffin. He married the former Emma Lee Brown on Nov. 17, 1941. She preceded him in death Sept. 6, 2003. He was a farmer who, upon his retirement, worked with P &G Manufacturing, Inc. as long as his health permitted. He was a past member of Wharton Station Ruritan Club. He was a charter member of Wharton Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Rebecca “Becky” Moore of Washington; two sons: Alton Lee Griffin and Elmer Ray Griffin, both of Washington; two sisters: Idonia Andrews and Addie Rutledge, both of Washington; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of his son, Alton Griffin, 221 Austin Point Drive, Washington.
